Weather: sunny and hot

Brilliant night by the small Etang just outside Peyriac and woke to sunny and warm with not a cloud in the sky!!! I rubbed my right eye while washing and seemed to put some sand in which must have scratched my eyeball and didn’t think any more of it thinking it would calm down.
We then set off on the most wonderful walk around the Etang toward the vineyard, over a small hill to the next Etang with views all the way to Port-la-Nouvelle and on to Peyriac Port, a small collection of fishing boats and yachts tried to wooden jetties the over the causeway the town and around the wooden walkways like we did last night watching the 100 or so flamingos fed and squabble and seeing them flying and landing is an amazing site!!! With the forecast saying some wind for today and Pete arriving this afternoon we headed to the speed spot by the wooded jetty above La Franqui. But on the way we went into Port-la-Nouvelle to find a pharmacy where a nice girl sold us some eye wash and drops. We parked by the jetty and as the wind was light :( we went for a swim, well Mag did alot and I did manage to get my shoulders wet but the water is a bit chilly and the sand too hot to walk on!!!! It was good fun playing around by the jetty where I took several pics. We had just set out lunch at about two when Peter Cutts pulled up beside us and joined us for lunch :) We chatted all afternoon while Mag read her book and then walked a couple of miles along the water’s edge checking out the depths, the beach was very busy with locals making the most of the light winds and sunshine. My eye was worse really, watering badly and I was having a job closing it :) so when we said our goodbyes to Pete – saying we would probably meet up again Wednesday when the wind returns !!!.
We then headed up into the mountains and after an hour of beautiful scenery we ended up just outside Caramany by the reservoir I’Agly and had dinner sitting by the water’s edge watching the sunset over the mountains and fish rising everywhere :)
